In honor of our first year in business and just in time for the holiday season, we're launching our 2019 Southern Record Tea Collection.
The collection includes our 5 loose leaf Japanese green teas of 2019—Sencha, Kabusecha, Gyokuro, Genmaicha, and Hojicha.
Yoshiwara Sencha—Sencha is the most common type of Japanese green tea and a great everyday drinker.
Genmaicha Kobashi—Genmaicha is sencha combined with toasted brown rice, which gives it a nutty, popcorn flavor.
Sayama Hojicha—Hojicha is roasted sencha. The roasting process decreases the caffeine, giving hojicha the lowest levels of caffeine in Japanese green tea. The darker, roasted flavors of hojicha make it a perfect fall and winter beverage.
Kabusecha Gokou—Our kabusecha is shaded for two weeks, the shading gives it a light umami savory taste and increases the caffeine. Grown pesticide and fertilizer free, following the Shumei agricultural method.
Gyokuro Soheki—Gyokuro, translated as "jade dew" for its color, is shaded for a minimum of 21 days. This is the richest and most premium of Japanese green teas. It has a strong umami flavor and broth-like texture. We recommend it for special occasions.
